"As a long-time business owner, I tend to be cynical about business books and the non-relevant and non-achievable advice often given. Roots and Rivers weaves real-life events of the author into actual small business challenges that any business owner would recognize. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I learned quite a bit, as well. Kim does a wonderful job telling an interesting story and offering a comprehensive business framework, including planning tools that are completely relatable and effective in creating and growing any small family business. I just recently sold my business to an employee, and I plan to get this book for her, as I think it would be a great help as she navigates from manager to owner.

I can really see and understand the parallels between life’s events and creating and tending a small family business. In fact, I’ve always told people, owning a small business is more a lifestyle than just a career or vocation. A small business is a living organism and needs to be approached as such. Kim’s book treats it that way. And it’s a fun read too!"
